From today on I'll post 10 slangs everyday, which I'm sure you'd enjoy reading. However, please think for no less than 5 seconds before putting them in any of your serious papers or essays since these are quite informal languages.

1. a shot in the dark

eg. --That was a tricky riddle. How did you guess it? --Oh I didn't know. It was only a shot in the dark.

2. a sinking ship
